Outstanding Japanese Gourmet-Hapa Izakaya

Posted on June 23rd, 2009 in Vancouver Restaurants Reviews | 2 Comments »

The Hapa Izakaya is located in 1479 Robson St, Vancouver.

Telephone: 604-689-4272

Insider review:

dishes ranging from marinade sashimi to grilled kobo beef to mushroom rice served in a piping hot stone bowl, and although they have one or two ‘plain’ sashimi selections, their marinade or ’sauced’ versions are highly recommended.

Cold sake is served in a very cool bamboo container. Food is served quite quickly, so you don’t have to sit there waiting for too long. Seating is more of table settings with one side on a bench, and there is a row of ‘bar’ seats ideal for couples.

Feature:

King Salmon Sashimi, Mackerel and rice.

Tips: definition of Izakaya ?

Izakaya: a type of Japanese drinking establishment which also serves food to accompany the drinks. The food is usually more substantial than that offered in other types of drinking establishments in Japan such as bars or `snack bars`. They are popular, casual and relatively cheap places for after-work drinking.

Overall ratings: great Izakaya food but VERY busy!

Why Order Food Online?

Posted on June 22nd, 2009 in Uncategorized | No Comments »

It’s totally free from trouble.

Misplacing order often occurs when you place order by phone. Sometimes due to phone line’s disorder or human error, your order is noted down wrongly. But this never happens with online food ordering as you yourself select dishes from online menus and place them for order.

On the other hand, if you don’t want your boss to hear you on the phone ordering lunch, the online food ordering website is going to be your best friend. They won’t even know you are placing an order as you type on your keyboard.

It’s easy to place order online.

You have an almost endless variety of food types to choose from. Food selection is terrific because you have the ability, at the touch of a few fingers, to move around within a restaurant and from restaurant to restaurant looking for your favorite food.

Sign-up is required, but it is only a one time task, after which you will just log in and place your order. After you register, your address information is automatically stored and will be used when you checkout, there is no need to enter the lengthy information again. These days when people do not have enough time to explain the order on phone, ordering food online proves to be time savers.

It’s easy to stay within budget.

For me, this is the best reason. Seeing the total cost of order before placing it, ensures that you stay within budget. Also you can review your past orders, knowing what you have ordered last time, or in the past. You will be glad to check all the order history and cost.

Lenti Curry Soup

Posted on June 22nd, 2009 in Uncategorized | 1 Comment »

There are a few steps to cook a Lenti Curry Soup. It’s very easy, so relax and follow the below instruction:

1. Peel and dice the potatoes. Measure spices into a little cup.
2.Heat the spices in a nonstick soup pan over medium heat. When aromatic, add the potatoes and stir to coat; and lentils and peanut oil or ghee and cook without browning for a minute or two until the oil is warmed.
3. Pour in the broth and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, let simmer, covered for about 30 minutes. Turn heat to it’s lowest setting.
4. Add the tomato paste; stir to combine. Mash or puree; season with salt and pepper.
5. Add the lemon juice; adjust salt. Serve, garnished with cilantro.
Alternative:
*Cook with 2 whole cloves; remove before pureeing. Season with nutmeg and caraway.
*Use cream or yogurt instead of lemon juice.
*Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of grated fresh ginger and/or cloves to lentis while they simmer.
Intriguing, entertaining flavor. Serve with a few traditional condiments like raita or pickled mango; or shredded carrot, cucumber and celery sticks; fresh melon slices. Serve with bread or basmati rice. Excerpt from
AYURVEDA: Inspired cooking for your individual well being (Vegetarian) by
with the yogurt; chopped mango and shredded carrot with splash of balsamic and sugar. We served with a slice of Orange Spice Cake LF (T).

It’s an Indian featured soup that you may have it in some Indian restaurants before you get ready to cook by yourself.

Insider View:
The golden interior of the sushi haven is somewhat lackluster, but the tearoom, complete with the lowered table and floor cushions for that “authentic experience”, more than makes up for the décor. An assortment of maki is on the menu and sashimi for the adventurous salmon lover. Business lunches are a success here as service is speedy yet polite and the presentation of your meal is an enjoyable adventure into the realm of Japanese cuisine.
